Adriano Visagie is set to take Burkina Faso for a second time as the co-host of the 5th annual Sotigui Awards. The awards are set to take place from 12 to 14 November 2020 in Ouagadougou Burkina Faso. This year’s theme will be, “Culture of Peace: The Contribution of Women in Cinema and Audio – Visual.
The awards are an initiative of the Academy of Sotigui, African Cinematographic Arts and the Diaspora, in partnership with the Panafrican Festival of Cinéma and Télévision of Ouagadougou (FESPACO).
Having just concluded hosting the prestigious Namibia Annual Music Awards 2020, Visagie says he is already gearing up to take the stage in West Africa.
“The Academy of Sotigui contacted me to co-host the prestigious event that celebrates film and comedy in the African diaspora, and I of course had to say yes,” says Visagie.

Visagie, who won the award for “Best Actor Southern Africa 2019” explains that he is able to be Namibia’s ambassador at the Sotiugi Awards 2020 with assistance from the Film Commission of Namibia who sponsored his return flights for the trip.
Visagie further lauds Florian Schott and Lize Ehlers for being his mentors during this journey.
Visagie acknowledges that although recognition as a host does not come easy, he values this opportunity.
“I value this opportunity towards increased African contribution and growth for the craft of being a host especially on a level where you get to represent your country in different parts of Africa,” he said.
Further Visagie concludes that being professional, consistent and fully prepared all around are traits he has learnt to master, which are now qualities that helps him achieve the goals he has set for himself.
“There is always hope for our growing industry , you just need to be willing to work hard and be consistent,” he said.
