An authors writing process explained

Ever considered being a writer? Here is a personal account that can help you decide!

Many of us merely think about when next our favorite authors will release books for us to indulge in but never the process of how the book came to life. this week, a new author on the block Musongo Mittag Immanuel speaks to unwrap on his writing process and how his first book, Winning Season came to life.

unwrap.online (UN): How did it all begin?

Musongo Immanuel (MI): The project was motivated by the setbacks I went through so I was super motivated to defy the odds and make a change for myself and those around me. The writing process was chilled, I would mostly write on weekends as I’m a student.

UN: Do you like writing or was it a circumstantial situation?

MI: You know, up to now I still wonder where I got the words to write in that project. It was more of a circumstantial thing because at that point I was going through some setbacks and challenges in my life. I was like wait a minute, I can turn all these negatives into positives and everything just took off from there, I never looked back since that day. In what felt like a flash the book was done and gone for editing.

UN: How long did it take you to write Winning Season?
MI: It took me about five months to finish the project which is not bad for a first-time author. But like I said, once I took off with the project everything flowed. I was dedicated and determined to finish it!

UN: Would you say there is enough support for local authors to thrive in Namibia based on your experience thus far?

MI: I don’t know really, I’m just enjoying the journey. It’s my first time in the game so for now, I don’t know what is perceived as usual or not. But maybe I can comment on platforms, authors should be provided with larger platforms to market their projects.

UN: What is the one thing you wished people knew about the writing process?
MI: I can say that everything takes time, like planting a seed. We have to learn to start exercising patience and believe in our craft.
