Multi-award winning singer and songwriter Annastasia Linus, popularly known as Ann
Singer, has expended her wings by venturing into the catering business with her The Food
Sack enterprise.
Ann Singer’s claim to fame was her domination of the 2016 Namibia Annual Music Awards
where she scooped four awards in the Album of the Year, Best Newcomer of the Year, Best
RnB and Best Afro-pop (inclusive of Township Disco).
“I really love food but who doesn’t? My main reason was to provide food to people but also
to create another source of income for myself,” she said.
According to the “Diminengepo” hit-maker, the passion for cooking has always been there.
“Most times I cook at family functions and when I had to sit down and decide what side
hustle I would enjoy, I thought why not pick something I like to do? And food was the first
thing on my mind, so the passion has always been there but it just wasn’t noticed, I guess.”
“It is definitely helping to pay the bills, I really would like to create wealth for my children
and this is a start,” said the bubbly Ann Singer.
With a menu for every weekday, The Food Sack offers tasty, healthy and flavourful meals.
“It is different food for each day. For example, on Tuesdays it is spicy chicken breast, sweet
potato and a garden salad. We also provide these in lunch packs for these meals and Fridays we do braai packs,” she added.
Traditional foods like Oshiwambo chicken amongst other cuisine that The Food Sack caters.
According to the songbird, the reception from the public towards The Food Sack has been
good.
“It has been amazing, people have been supportive and we honestly didn’t expect to pick up the way we did when we first started about a month and a half ago,” she said.
Being a musician, she has found a good balance between the catering business and her music due to the support system that she has.
“I have someone that helps when the orders are crazy or when I am not around. So, that’s
how I have been able to create the balance.”
Ann Singer further encouraged young people to go out there and get their dreams and their money without limiting themselves.
“Do not allow fear to control you because only you have the power to create the life you
want.”
