Big Ben and TopCheri distance themselves from Swapo star rally lineup

Big Ben and TopCheri say they will not be partaking in the Khomas star rally but encourage their fans to go out and vote.

Popular musician, big Ben has distanced himself from the ruling party Swapo’s star rally which takes place on Saturday. This follows after Swapo released a poster advertising Big Ben and Top Cheri has headliners for their rally. Big Ben told Unwrap that he has not been contracted for the advertised gig nor was he engaged before adverts and posters were made.

“I am not contracted for such. Swapo is using artists that have not been contacted to market their rally,” said a rather infuriated Big Ben adding that his schedule for the month is packed and does not include performing for the party.

“I have a full schedule for November, December until next year February and the Swapo rally in question is not on my calendar. The party must explain how they got to decide to put my face on an event I am not contracted for. As for my fans, I say go out and vote, it is not only a right but your responsibility to vote. Use your vote for your benefit and the future of your country,” he said.

Top Cheri on her part posted on social media that she has only one event scheduled this weekend in Oranjemund. Swapo had in the meantime issued a statement to explain the error and apologise to Top Cheri for the “error” and wished her well for her event in Oranjemund.

This confusion comes in the wake of local artists being grilled for being too political.
