Big Ben shuts it down at Zoo Park

Big Ben knows how to entertain a crowd and he had a massive number of people come through to his concert this weekend to celebrate and indulge in Namibian music.

The concert saw many Namibian acts come out to perform and the crowd had no favourites, they enjoyed every single performance at the concert. The crowd was very lively, entertained and active throughout the concert.

Popular Oviritje and disco legends the Big Mountain started off the night on a good note, they set the pace for the night and had the crowd amused and dancing during their set. Big Mountain were like magicians on stage, they had control of the crowd and interacted very often with them. The group kept teasing the crowd with their music and made sure they were begging for some more before they left the stage. They even dedicated part of their performance to late South African disco hero, Dan Tshanda.

Ethnix also had a stellar performance for the night. Etjo came on stage first and performed her hit single Maukuhonngo that was produced by DJ Kboz. The crowd sang along with her during her performance. When the other half of Ethnix, Paige walked on stage, the ladies lost their minds, literally screaming for him. You could hear the place shake and vibrate when Paige walked on stage. The duo went on to perform their popular songs Omutima, Ta Nauka and Omaronga and the audience once again had some fun. The duo was joined by Uatjo who also had a lively performance on stage.

By the time Big Ben was on stage, everything was set for him and the crowd was ready to be wowed and moved by his performance. The vocalist once again proved why he is considered one of Namibia’s top live performers. At some point during his performance he event got a fan to come and perform on stage with him. The crowd constantly shouted from some more from Big Ben, some of the members were even chanting in excitement when Big Ben was on stage. The Okinikini singer held it down with his vocals and ensured the crowd had an experience they wouldn’t forget.

There are not official numbers for the show yet, but we reckon there were more than 1000 people at the event. The show was well planned and went on without any hiccups. The band playing during the night were also very impressive and were the heroes of the show. There was even special reservations made at the venue for the disabled.

Below are some of the moments we captured at the Big Ben concert:
