Kwaito artist Blacksheep has called on Namibian artists to start an organisation to protect their interests because the Namibian Society of Composers and Authors of Music (NASCAM) because they hardly pay artists their royalty fees.
The Gazza Music Productions (GMP) artist says he does not know why Namibian artists think it is a good thing to be linked to NASCAM.
Blacksheep also shared that he has never received any money from NASCAM since he registered with them in 2008.
Nascam has come under fire from many artists who feel the organisation does not represent them fully and they have been accused previously of not paying artists their royalty fees.
NASCAM’s mandate revolves around registeration of artists and license musical use in Namibia and their works and collecting royalties, or fees from those using music and to distribute royalties to its members and those of their sister organizations, and finally to fight against any form of piracy in Namibia.
