Blaze making his mark with Pondondo

By Emilie Shimbali

Upcoming Kwaito music artists, Sakeus Paulus, is one of the latest to add to the increasing creative scope of Kwaito and hip pop genre in Namibia.

Also known by his stage name Blaze, he recently came out with the single Pondondo that presents a graceful and captivating musical appreciation.

Pondondo single which is in Otjjiherero hooks audience with untold stories of their lives. It received a warm appreciation from fans as many started doing a dance challenge for the song on TikTok.

He prides himself that Pondondo will be the song of the year amid competition challenge.

Blaze sings with a full heart as he delivers each lyrics with passion and conviction. Most of his other songs, glides through a course of telling a story while motivating the listeners on the way. Like his song “ Atuzula” featuring Kaboy Kamakili, brings the essence of motivation and confidence that would inspire audiences to hustle on their own.

“The aim is actually to give hope to the hopeless and to keep those working hard motivated till their destinations reached. I grew up in Katutura with a lot of bad influence and bad habits.”

Blaze says that he will not let go without a fight as he hopes to improve his soundscape with new Kwaito elements. He is looking forward to working with other musicians in the industry.

“I am an entertainer my music is directed to the whole nation and its speaks mostly about me bringing a new style to the music industry and my music is mostly to be listened to at parties, weddings and other events,” he said.

Although he just started out, his energy demonstrates the ability to learn and grow. He raps in Damara, Herero, Afrikaans and English.
