Brawnskin started as an Instagram username and has now evolved into an original brand name made by Tsumeb’s own Nelson Kakenya.
The brand name inspired by the words Brownskin but was quickly changed to Brawnskin which seemed more meaningful to the 22-year-old. The brand officially launched last year and so far, it is killing it slowly but surely.
“I was actually supposed to launch it this year but someone just came over me,” said Kekanya. The planning and designing process was always at the back of his mind for years.
“I’ve always wanted to start my own brand.”
If you would like to get your hands on a ‘Brawnskin’ shirt then you best hurry. There is only a limited amount per design. “I have this concept of… I’m more about quality than quantity” The shirts are specially customised with a close watchful eye by Kakenya and for this reason, only a few are made at a time.
To order a ‘Brawnskin’ T-shirt just search up ‘brawnskinapparel’ on Instagram. Contact the number provided and follow the procedures.
“In the future, I want to branch out to hoodies and even accessories.” Though the future of ‘Brawnskin’ may still be foggy for Kakenya he is very ambitious to make ‘Brawnskin’ a well-known and homegrown name. “I want it to be that Namibian thing that everyone is proud of.”
