Miss Namibia 2009 winner Happie Ntelamo- Matswetu has provided hope for many young women from the Zambezi region who least dreamed of one day wearing the national crown or at least achieving their life goals.
It was nothing short of a historic moment for Matswetu when she won the crown becoming the first young woman from the Zambezi region to dawn the crown but she has never looked back since.
“The role models that young girls have to guide them are far more limited in the public spotlight. For this reason, we should work hard and make history that will inspire our youth to do more than we did, ” she said.
It was a momentous win considering the fact that she is the only woman from Katima Mulilo to win the Miss Namibia title since its formation in 1980.
Life couldn’t be better for Happie who is also a fashion designer. In 2011, after completing law education, she started working at a local law firm and the year afterwards she was the host of Good Morning Namibia. Matswetu then became the ambassador for the Katima Mulilo Mayor Civic Awards in 2013.
After a hiatus, she returned in 2016 and established Ntelamo-Matswetu & Associates which is the name of her very own law firm. She says Miss Namibia taught her to not underestimate her abilities and to seize opportunities life presents.
