Child star Jozi debuts music career

By Dalene Kooper and Emily Shimbalie

Groomed and nurtured by Olive entertainment academy, twelve-year-old Jozi, whose real name is Jozikee Haihambo has successfully launched her first music video on Saturday.

As a rising pop singer, Jozi is the first product of the Olive entertainment academy. Her music video is titled “Jozi Na Na Na” and is out on Olive entertainment’s YouTube page. According to her, the song speaks about a young girl who has a dream that she wants to accomplish.

In the meantime, the young singer is elated about her music however she doesn’t see herself pushing more for music as a career even though she is hoping to break into the music scene with the help of Olive entertainment.

“ I love music but I am just doing it for fun. When I grow up I want to have a professional career such as becoming a scientist.” She said.

She believes that her love for music comes from her father.  Jozi’s father Ewin Baise Haihambo, who was also present at the video launch showed how excited and proud he is of his daughter.

“ She has been singing ever since she was a child. I can’t stop watching her video” he said.

Julia Kadhikwa, a co-founder of the academy, could not contain her excitement for Jozi.

“ At least now we have someone as an example to others who are willing to register with us,” she says.

The olive academy offers programmes to novice talents in various arts sectors as well as performers wanting to elevate. Changing the world, one student at a time is their mission.

“ Amid the financial challenges we are going through, we are hoping to continue supporting young talent and giving them a taste of music that will help to bring their talents to the next level,” Julia said.
