CoW doors open to artists

Despite the cancellation of the most anticipated social events hosted by the City of Windhoek(CoW), the municipality remains open to help creatives where necessary especially during the pandemic.

In an interview with unwrap.online, City of Wondhoek’s spokesperson Herold Akwenye said regardless of the cancellation of the annual /Ae//Gams Arts and Cultural Festival and the Windhoek Jazz Festival due to the current pandemic, the city still looks forward to working with creatives.

“We hope the Year-End Bash hosted by the city of Windhoek will still take place as there is nothing at this point we can do. Artists can come to us saying they need help and we can see how to assist them,” he said.

The decision to cancel the Windhoek Jazz Festival 2020 was enclosed in the monthly Windhoek Municipal Council meeting.

“We are committed to doing our part to help protect the employees, residents, fellow Namibians and visitors. Our sympathies go out to those who are affected nationally and internationally, ” he said.

The 2019 Windhoek Jazz Festival and the 8th event saw jazz enthusiasts enjoy the day with artists including Rose Blvc, Sean K, Garth Taylor and Yvonne Chaka Chaka.
