Dee’A releases video for ‘You and I’

One of the country’s most consistent and beloved gospel musicians Dee’A (real name Leopold Vatilifa) is fresh off dropping a 12-track album titled ‘Evaengeli’ and a new music video for one of his gospel love songs titled ‘You and I’, which features multi-award-winning producer and artist DJ Kboz.

Dee’A says it is common for gospel musicians to sing love songs because God is the author of all kinds of love.

“I believe gospel musicians sing and express love more than the mainstream [artists]. Yes, we sing about God loving us and us loving him back, but there’s more to that. Remember the Bible commands us to love our neighbours, and for husbands to love their wives. Love must be the easiest thing to sing about as a gospel artist,” he said.
He added that the song features DJ Kboz mainly because he is always in the studio with him.

“I’m married to a beautiful woman, Sarah Vatilifa, and every anniversary I release a love song to celebrate love. This is a feel-good music video to express and visualise how attractive love can be. As you will see almost all over the place, and that’s how love is, it’s spontaneous and always about to do anything,” Dee’A said.

Apart from releasing his latest album, some of his most memorable moments from last year include performing for president Hage Geingob and the first lady Monica Geingos at the ‘Never walk alone’ gala dinner as well as performing at the 2021 MTC Hope Concert.
“I was also able to tap into new areas and get to work with artists I’ve always wanted to work with – the likes of TopCheri, Takie Ndou, Tekla, Mushe, Elisabeth, Page (Ethnix), and Mushe. So, 2021 was a good year for me,” he said.

For this year, however, Dee’A says he does not have resolutions or any plans yet. “I plan as the Holy Spirit leads. I go by God’s plan. I tried my plans many times and most of the time they failed. When He (God) plans, it goes excellent,” he said.
