Amid wider devastation, the COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the musical world. Although online consumption has risen Spotify, for instance, has seen large growth in paid subscriptions but musicians are still suffering.
However, this did not put to stop, Award winning music band ( Ethnix ) which dropped a single “ Ohole” last week.
According to the band’s co founder Julius, Ohole” which translates (love) is also part of their upcoming album. For the saying that “love is beautiful and needed by everyone” this single is one that you spontaneously get while you are in studio.
“ I had a conversation with someone at the Beat were the studio is and she told me how her partner became a bit distant and he seemed not to love her anymore, but then she made a joke saying if he doesn’t love me anymore I have enough love for the both of us that is how the idea of the song came about” said the co- founder of Ethnic Namibia Julius known as page .
The music industry has been hit hard by coronavirus with live performance revenue the biggest casualty, but the music band ( Ethnix ) are fighting back with new ways to monetize music consumption and innovative models.
The video which is shot by Spectrum Media was shot at one of Namibia’s Social Cafés (The Beat) located in Okuryangava an informal settlement in Windhoek.
The song is produced by one of Namibia’s top tier music producers also an award winning producer ‘Andrew On The Beat’ who page said that working with him is always nice and smooth.
“ Working with Andrew On The Beat has always been a great pleasure ,we are always comfortable with him because he has amazing ideas” page detailed.
The “ Ponomate” hit makers concluded that the only thing that can get one this far due to the Pandemic is faith , that things will be well soon and people will get back to their normal life.
