After a musical sabbatical of four years, award-winning Florence is back with her latest single titled ‘Step out’.
According to Florence, the song portrays a strong message of hope, especially for women and the youth.
“It is an inspirational song to motivate young people to keep believing in their dreams and to never give up. It encourages them to ‘step out, be the change and make things happen,” she said.
The song was produced by Christo “Citto” van Wyk in Rehoboth.
“I enjoyed creating the song from nothing and my producer Citto has a good ear for music, is very talented and he made it so much easier and fun.”
“It took me a whole weekend to write the song though after the beat was created. I wanted it to speak to people and motivate them in their current circumstances,” said Florence.
After its YouTube release on 6 May, the music video for the track has been trending with over 1000 views in less than two weeks.
“Shooting the video was fun. It was also my first music video and will definitely shoot again. Citto has so much patience and he knew how to get the best out myself and my crew.”
“When you become the song, it’s not difficult at all. You just give it your best and have fun while doing it,” she said.
Although Florence’s previous single before “Step out” was a track titled “We want change”, she did not stop singing or writing music.
During the four years of her hiatus, it was only the recording of music which stopped. Despite this, she assured her fans that they can look forward to the release of her sophomore album soon.
“We are currently busy with the rest of the tracks. The single was just a taste of what to expect. There are definitely more surprises. I am planning to release the album by the end of the year.”
Before embarking on the journey of becoming an independent artist, Florence released her debut album titled Stand up, in 2016 under Done Deal Recordz.
The album earned her the 2017 NAMAs (Namibia Annual Music Awards) Best Reggae Artist of the Year for her hit “African Child”, a song which features the legendary Ras Sheehama.
