Jericho’s final words to King Phura who will be buried this Saturday

Jericho on Phura- “We were musically connected as kings”

Following the news of Phura’s untimely passing, there was an outpouring of love for the Ma/Gaisa legendary artist. More artists and celebrities have steadily been paying tribute to Phura. unWrap.online caught up with renowned hip hop turned gospel singer Jericho who recently performed at one of the scheduled tribute concerts in his honor.

It has been confirmed that the late Phura who passed away on 25 April will be laid to rest this Saturday in Khorixas and one of the reasons is to get enough funds to give the King of Ma/Gaisa a respectable farewell. So far, funds close to N$ 60 000 has been raised from public members, the tribute concerts and organizations.

Jericho says he recalls Phura from the many shows they had traveled on together as a very funny man who always had people around him in tears from laughter.

“We were not that close but we were musically connected as kings. He respected people I know,” he said.

At the concert held at Moses Van Der Byl sports field, Jericho said he performed Heaven’s Missing an Angel specifically for him. The concert was well attended and had other artists like Erna Chimu and Big Ben.

“I believe that we should not mourn him but rather celebrate his life for all he has selflessly given us as Namibian and the hope he gave to the industry,” he said.
