Julio Cessar’s latest food for thought song will leave you questioning the status quo.
On a day that Namibian fallen heroes are remembered and commemorated, spoken word and hip hop artists released The Shanghai Street Freestyle, a thought-provoking that everyone needs to hear. Speaking on societal issues that affect every Namibian, the conscious artist says that he decided to release his message in the only way he can, through song.
” I asked myself if we are living in the kind of society that the fallen heroes fought for. So even though people were in a celebratory mood, I wanted people to ask themselves if we are doing the heroes any justice,” he says.
According to the Kasie Poet, the song is dedicated to neglected children, single mothers, victims of rape, drug addicts and also serves to throw shade at corrupt politicians as well as give people familiar to these issues something to relate to without glorifying any social evils.
The song is currently available for streaming and downloading on SoundCloud. Asked if he will release visuals, the artist says its a plan in the pipeline.
“As for visuals, I am in the process of securing funds and resources and will also depend on the overall reception of the song by the public in the meantime,” he concludes.
