Namibian comedian Kris withaK has been nominated for the award Top African Comedian for the upcoming SA Comedy Awards. The excited comedian in an interview with unwrap.online expressed his gratitude for the awards recognising his efforts and job.
“Getting nominated for this award is already a WIN for me, and it came as a surprise because this is a continental award, I feel very honoured just getting recognition at that level and helping Namibia shine through comedy,” he stated.

The inaugural ceremony of the SA Comedy Awards was held in 2006 and 2007 at Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre Centre, where both events were broadcast on SABC 2. At the awards, then-young comedians Trevor Noah, Loyiso and Gola, together with established comedians Riaad Moosa and John Vlismas walked away victorious.

The 2020 re-launch ceremony will continue to unleash the talent from South African comedy onto the international comedy stage through cultivating the international relationships the awards has with various international industry stakeholders. This includes Canadian Comedy Awards, US and UK based judges and comedians Cortney Gee (USA), Yoursie Thomas (USA) and Brian Higgins (UK). The awards continue endeavouring to make it easier for the respective award winners to get into various international comedy industries and to successfully apply for an international Visa, especially when one already has a South African Comedy Award.
The awards will take place on 12 December at the Soweto Theater.
