Musician Loft has decided to take a new direction in his artistry and change his stage name to Morenga, which according to him is the name his father gave him.
The young artist who already boasts a resume of being a sound producer and engineer that includes working on the soundtrack to ‘Baxu and the Giants’ and making a name for himself as a formidable rapper, says that changing his name also has to do with the Anti-apartheid hero, Jacob Morenga.

“This is a name my father gave me and it’s always made sense to me. Jacob Morenga was a Herero/Nama chief and anti-colonial leader in the early 19th century who contributed to the freedom of Namibia, helping establish peace between the tribes.
I associate myself with being a modern-day Desert Rebel as a Colored/German man who has ancestral roots of both the oppressors and the oppressed. I’ve always been radical in my ways, having no fear of speaking what’s in my mind and heart,” he said.
Morengo is managed under Universal Master Builders (UMB), which also hosts the likes of Dj Dreas as well as songstress Diolini. Morengo will be releasing his first song under his new artist alias this week
