The fourth edition of the Donlu Unplugged Sessions at Stratos Avani featuring Monique English is set to rock patrons of the Avani Hotel as well as music lovers all over Windhoek this Thursday. According to Donlu Africa founder Llewelyn Adams, the platform was created to promote Namibian music.
“We are giving artists the opportunity to showcase what they can do in a semi-live or live set. One of the criteria for artists to be considered includes just having music on the Donlu Africa website. It makes no sense to have you perform if you do not support the platform. Another requirement is to have performing experience, but if he or she does not have experience, we will make the in house band to practice or rehearse,” Adams said.
Monique English, who in a recent article said that she will be taking a step back from making music, will be the fourth artist to grace the stage after Oompie and Damara Dik Ding.
Some of her accolades include the Best Female Artist of the Year 2017 and Best single in 2018. She released her second studio album titled Red in November 2019. The album was produced by Ali Jonker, Nautilus Studio and Luke Goliath from South Africa, who had also produced for award-winning South African artist Shekinah and South African actress Nadia Jaftha.
