MTC Windhoek Fashion Week Reveals ‘Sustainably Namibian’ as theme for 8th Edition

MTC Windhoek Fashion Week (MTCWFW) is gearing up for its highly anticipated 8th edition, scheduled to take place from 1 – 4 November 2023, with a bold theme of “Sustainably Namibian.”

This year’s event promises to showcase the best of Namibian fashion while advocating for sustainability in the industry.

Looking back at the journey of MTCWFW since its humble beginnings in 2016, Alvaro Mukoroli, one of the organizers of the event, expressed excitement about the growth and impact the platform has made in the Namibian fashion scene.

“We have come a long way and are proud of the strides we have made in promoting Namibian designers and products,” said Mukoroli.At the heart of MTCWFW’s mission is sustainability, and the “Sustainably Namibian” theme highlights the event’s commitment to promoting responsible and ethical fashion practices.

With a focus on supporting local designers and products, MTCWFW aims to foster a culture of sustainable fashion, advocating for eco-friendly materials, fair trade, and conscious consumption.In addition to showcasing fashion, MTCWFW is actively involved in various projects that promote collaboration and skill development in the industry.

The Fashion Meets Sound Project, in collaboration with Sound Connects Fund, brings together fashion and music to create unique experiences for audiences. The Jewellery Masterclass, in partnership with NDTC, offers masterclasses for aspiring accessories designers.

Designers interested in participating in MTCWFW are encouraged to stay tuned for application announcements towards the end of April. Model castings are also scheduled for May, providing a platform for local and international models to showcase their talent on the runway.

As MTCWFW prepares for its 8th edition, the event promises to be a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and collaboration, providing a platform for Namibian fashion to soar to new heights.

With its unwavering focus on supporting local talent and promoting responsible fashion practices, MTCWFW continues to establish itself as a leading fashion event in Namibia and beyond.
