MTF, Dolby’s free classes for sound engineering

Setting up a 5.1 Session and Mix Environment this week with the MTF masterclasses!

Digital content is blowing up. An average person is now willing to consume more visual content than ever. This calls for storytellers to create content that is entertaining and engaging enough.

If you are in the mixing game you might be familiar with the different audio systems ranging from 5.1 to Dolby Atmos setups. However, it is increasingly common for sound to be mixed in 5.1. The 5.1 surround sound according to Dolby delivers a cinematic experience through five speakers and a subwoofer.

Set ups with multiple overhead speakers could be a lot to wrap your head around but if you master your mixing skills it could become a lot more easier. The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) is hosting a webinar on ‘Setting up a 5.1 Session and Mix Environment’ on Thursday, 7 May 2020 at 13:00.

Through this webinar mix engineers will learn how to set up a 5.1 mix room and get a hang of certain rules that will put you in a good place when working on any visual content that needs a 5.1 mix. Questions about to where to perfectly position speakers, dialogue and voiceover, music tracks as well as ambience and atmosphere sound effects will be answered in this session.

The webinar will be hosted by Vikram Joglekar, a senior content manager at Dolby Labs and Quinton Schmidt, a senior manager operator partnership at Dolby Labs.

The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) in partnership with Dolby Institute is offering a series of Dolby Audio Webinars geared towards all content creators, mix engineers, video editors and system integrators. This will be the fourth session of a series of eight webinars. To attend the webinar registration can be done on the MultiChoice Talent Factory portal www.multichoicetalentfactory.com
