MultiChoice Namibia, MTC, NWR host media day

For the first time, MultiChoice Namibia (MCN) partnered with brands Namibia Wildlife Resort and MTC to host a collaborative media engagement at the stunning Waterberg Resort from Friday, 31 January to Saturday, 1 February 2020.

The event, which took place under the theme #Igniting2020, was established around the idea of strengthening the relationship with the press, while enforcing a programme that encouraged teamwork and competency in order to achieve a common goal.

“In the spirit of forging smart partnerships, we decided to collaborate with two leading brands in order to encourage synergy with our media stakeholders,” said MultiChoice Namibia’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Levana Cloete.

The media day saw participants learn hip-hop, Latin and kizomba skills, build and plant a mobile garden for charity, design and engineer gliders, as well as create and harness fire in a creative art project.

“The relationship between the media and corporates is of important worth, because it speaks of cooperation which is based on mutual trust and understanding. It is this understanding that solidifies our relationship to always work with the media as key stakeholders that need each other in equal measure,” John Ekongo, MTC’s Manager of Sponsorships and Promotions, said.

These activities created a sense of fun, activity, teamwork, collective thinking, communication and breaking barriers for both brand management and the press.

“From Namibia Wildlife Resorts, our singular belief is that the media plays a vital role in communicating our message as corporates to the public,” NWR’s Corporate Communications and Online Media Manager Mufaro Nesongano said. “It is, therefore, paramount that we always maintain a cordial relationship with them and continually grow it. Through the just-ended media event that we held with our partners (MTC and MCN), we believe that we were able to achieve this and more. We would, therefore, like to thank all those that played a central role in making this event a success.”

Based on team spirit, participation and other factors, several journos were awarded with prizes sponsored by each brand.
