Hold on to your hourses! This year’s NAMAs is set to blow the entertainment industry away with new and exciting elements announced.
As music enthusiasts and industry jetsetters, keenly look forward to witness the crème de la crème of Namibia talents at the 2019 NAMA’s, the organising committee yesterday shared meticulous update on the build-up of what is to be expected on the 7 September at the Dome in Swakopmund. Organisers promised a packed entertainment show, said NAMAs Executive Chairperson Tim Ekandjo. He explained that the award night will have thirteen performance slots, which in total will make up a total of 36 performances of Namibia’s best talents showcasing their musical artistic works.
“It is always with passion and excitement as we create a platform that our artists embrace and project to the world what Namibia has to offer. All performances will be done completely with the live band (five-piece band: drummer, music arranger, lead guitarist, co-music arranger, bass guitarist, main key and second keys, with two separate full backline set ups), explained Ekandjo.
Furthering opportunities, this year the NAMAs will also allow non-music artists to showcase their artwork pieces and drawings on the blue carpet.
As a norm NAMA’s aim is to always set new record and skyrocket the NAMAs to a completely new orbit, this year, not completely giving the surprise away, Ekandjo half way revealed that the NAMAs will have multiple stunts, with two never done before on the African continent. Anxious but excited, Ekandjo expressed that “We have ever since inception of the NAMAs improved the event both from a technical and overall delivery perspective but we are going to step it up even further this year. I am particularly anxious about this year’s event because we will be doing things never done at any award show in Africa and that is both scary and exciting.
There is a reason why the NAMAs is now the number one event in Africa, and to maintain that level of excitement we need to be crazy innovative in the wow effect and the feeling we want to leave with those attending and watching around the world, and the impression we create about Namibia”.
Performing artists will not merely be aided by the band, but dancers will also be provided. Led by a Namibian young and experienced choreography, the dancers are busy at work rehearsing and mastering the choreographies to ascertain that a stellar performance is delivered cometh the 7 September. Out of the 123 dancers who came for auditions, twenty managed to make the final cut.
Artist Masterclass Early on Saturday, 7 September 2019, from 10am to 12h00; the NAMAs will host an artist masterclass session, with the topic: Succeeding my Music, Brand and Business as an Artist across the African continent. The session panel will present great and experienced gurus in music, the 2019 NAMAs judges such as Sean Watson; MD Sony Music Pan Africa, Somoina Kimojino: MD Somz Talent & Homeboyz Radio & Media Kenya, Sammy Thuo: Director, Saracen OMD: No 1 Global Media Agency, South African legendary artist Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Namibia’s own Axali Doeseb.
“This session is to give the opportunity for artists to meet, engage and discuss all things music and share ideas on how to optimally positive results out of their music careers. We thus advise strongly advice artists to attend this masterclass”, said Ekandjo.
Ekandjo enthusiastically concluded that since fashion is a crucial element of the NAMAs, this year a competition will be run to select the best-dressed personalities. The theme is “Glitz and Glamour/urban chic”. Tickets are going for N$120 general and N$350 VIP and are available at all Pick n Pay stores at webtickets or online at www.webtickets.com.na
