Namibia to host its first drag queen party

Call your stylists already! The biggest drag queen party with a purpose is about to hit Namibia!

It all started with a question as to why Namibia does not celebrate or highlight the queer community with a drag party and the rest is history. However as of last week Friday, party TV Atallia Diamond Von Francois launched the first Namibian drag queen party, an event where males and females imitate the opposite sex through fashion and makeup expressions, similar to the popular reality TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race.

“The discrimination for the queer is at a high and none is doing something about it. This is also a perfect opportunity showcase a culture where we celebrate this community and they will let us in their world,” she said.

Speaking at the launch, makeup artist Jay Aeron who is the face of the event said that he is looking forward to the event as it is a platform that has been missing in the industry.

“We have so many people in be it in the fashion, TV, and radio but the platform is not there and that is why I am excited to be part of it,” said Jay Aeron.

The celebrations will include competition as well as a party on days that are soon to be announced and is said to be different from the RuPaul Drag Race.

“We will be hosting a main event which will have contestants will be strutting and the second part of it will have houses of queens competing for a prize. The main idea is that the winner will be representing the Diamond Drag Show and duties and responsibilities to carry out. We also plan on racing awareness on the drag culture including the general public,” says Atallia Diamond Von Francois.

More information is yet to be announced and will be shared on the Diamond Drag Show’s social media pages.
