Upcoming musician, Nicky Mukwane Munyandi has taken the traditional music scene by storm when many are settling for popular culture and dropping hits in hip hop an house.
So determined is Nicko Zamaleck as he is known by his legion of fans to prove that there is nothing amiss with young Namibians basing their music in their cultural and traditional beliefs.
Hailing from the Zambezi region and in his second-year studies in Journalism and Media Technology at NUST, Nicko Zamalek broke into the music industry in 2017 with a hit titled My Namibia and got his recognition in 2019 when he released My Namibia official music video.
He told unwrap.online that he realised his musical talent at the age of nine which pushed him to engage in music-related activities in his community (at school and church).

“I identify myself as a versatile artist who can do all sorts of genre,” said Nicky.
He further added that hip hop is his genre but RNB, jazz, kizomba, reggae, afro-pop, house, soul, disco and punk are also at heart.
Currently, he is working on his second music video which he assured that it will be released in May if everything goes smoothly well.
He also shared that he is in the process of signing into an online music agency which will promote his music on large music sites and is about to release a new single hit but unfortunately he is still looking for a suitable record label.
Inspired by Nicki Minaj to do Hip Hop, Nicky envisioned himself in a better place in terms of music, audience, politics, to mention but a few and he is uncertain if he will be in Namibia in few years to come.
