Budding Afro pop musician, and Journalist Nicky Munyandi known by his stage name Nicko Zamaleck from the Zambezi region this week released his latest video, titled Power.
Nicko Zamaleck used the video to mark his three year anniversary in pursuing a music career.
In 2019 he released his first music video titled “My Namibia” which later this year was used as the theme song for the country’s 30th independence celebration.
The recognition gave him the drive to actually work even harder and he managed to release another music video titled “Power” which he co-directed.
The song is a fusion of afro pop and Rhumba a sound native to the Zambezi region.
Munyandi said he titled the song “Power” because it is his way of making his presence known and felt in the industry.
“I titled the song “Power” because it announces my establishment in the music industry, it is me encouraging myself to pursue my passion and be my own hero,” he said.
The music video is defiantly one worth taking a look at.
It features a very upbeat environment filled with a burst of culture and hypnotising dance moves leaving you wanting to dance or even just nodding your head to the tune.
In his music videos Munyandi dresses in his cultural attire and when asked why, he explained that it is his way of appreciating his roots and embracing being African.
He said Nigerian singer Yemi Alede has inspired him to embrace his African heritage so much.
Despite loving being Namibian and being able to contribute his part to the country’s entertainment industry, he hopes to one day be able to sprout his music and journalism career outside the country.
