Radio personality and actor NSK recently made his debut in a local short film titled ‘Struggles’ that will soon be out to the public.
The theatre actor says even though acting for the screens is incredible, it is also challenging.
“It was not as heart-wrenching and butterflies in your tummy as theatre acting but honestly, I can get use to the camera, lights, action… CUT life. My whole professional acting career has been theatre, I did do an incredible “don’t drink and drive” advert, but it’s still different because, for the first time ever, I had dialogue,”
NSK says that the roIe he plays as Dave in ‘Struggles’ is exactly who he is now. “Dave is a successful creative who now finds himself in no man’s land because of the crazy economic impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on the arts industry. He never had it easy and always had to work twice as hard to fend for him and his loved ones,” he continued.
According to NSK ’Struggles’ puts a millennial modern-day spin on how one looks at what the pandemic did to human life in 2020. It highlights the realities of a young couple that love one another and how they deal with outside factors like family.
“The film places a firm spotlight on young people and how it affected us as opposed to the usual mantra that we see on pedestrian news channels,”
“This film is extremely important and should be embraced by every Namibian because not only was it written, directed, produced and amplified by young ambitious professionals, but every Namibian will relate to the story, the plot and the twist in more ways than one,” he says.
The film was shot and directed by Ndakalako Shilongo who took a risk on casting a “rookie” on screen actor like NSK. WHEN AND WHERE WILL IT COME OUT? PLEASE PLACE THAT HERE She paired me with Christine Morris and honestly it was just a stroke of genius. I learned. I experienced and officially starving for more,” NSK concluded.
