NTN employees stage a peaceful demonstration

NTN workers claim to have been failed.

This afternoon, the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) staff with their union Namibia Public Workers Union (Nampwu) staged a peaceful demonstration expressing their unhappiness in the work place.  According to the public relations officer Desiree Mentor, the demonstartion is aimed at raising awareness of the plight of the workers. the NTN workers have a petition with their grievances and needs to be met.

” People are expressing their unhappiness in how their matters are dealt with. It will go on should the board refuses to accept the petition until the petition is accepted from the people,” she said.

The staff members can be seen outside their building holding postcards written ‘NTN you are failing us’ and ’30 years without company policies’

The NTN is the national theater which promotes the development, conservation and maintenance of dramatic arts in Namibia; among other things. The theater was opened in 1989 and it is on Robert Mugabe Avenue.
