Namibian personalities joined the rest of the world in the commemoration of International
Women’s Day, which is held annually on 8 March to highlight and
celebrate the achievements of women across all sectors of development,
raise awareness of the importance of women’s equality in the domestic
and public spheres as well as advocating for increasing gender parity.
Leading the pack of celebrities is NBC’s TV sports anchor and social media influencer Sharon Tjimbundu, wrote on her Instagram page saying “where there’s a women, there’s magic! Happy International Women’s day to all the incredible women”.
As this year’s Women’s day is celebrated under the theme #Choosetochallenge , Brand strategists Catherine Shipushu #Choosetochallemge any form of gender stereotypes and bias towards women and encourage her fellow sisters to stand proud in their power, boldness, fierceness and ambition.

“Happy International women’s day to all my sisters. I am because you are. To the women who came before me , thank you for showing me that dreams are indeed valid, for paving the way and keeping the door open for me. As we celebrate our special day let us unite to fight for equality at work, in our homes and the community “ she wrote.
Jessica Urias the PRO at the SimplyYouMagazine said that let no one convince you there are limits or boundaries to what you can achieve.
“ Dear women, if God gave you the clarity to see it he will give you the character to pursue it, wisdom to maintain it and strength to fight it. Never allow fear to to dictate you continue to invade men dominated spaces until gender mainstreaming prevails. Happy International Women’s Day” she said.
