After the FA Cup took centre stage in England over the past weekend, the Premier League will return with two sets of fixtures over the next seven days. The key match comes from the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 3 February when Manchester City host Arsenal.

The clash will see a title-chasing City looking to make a big statement against the Gunners, who are in a tough three-way battle with Chelsea and Manchester United for the final berth in the top four (just three points separates the teams on the log).
But before Pep Guardiola and Unai Emery can even think of their meeting at the weekend, they will be involved in midweek matches: the Citizens will fancy their chances of winning away to Newcastle United at St James Park, while Arsenal will look to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat at the hands of United last Friday with a win at home to relegation-threatened Cardiff City.
The Red Devils are on an eight-game winning streak (across all competitions) under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he will fancy his chances of nine victories from as many matches in charge when Burnley come to Old Trafford on Tuesday night. A midweek win would then tee up United for the prospect of 10 straight wins when they head to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City next Sunday.

The Foxes, who were champions just two and a half years ago, could still have a major say in the destination of the title, as they play away to leaders Liverpool on Wednesday night. Expect a fast and frenetic encounter, with both teams fresh after a weekend off (due to early FA Cup elimination).
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will play the day after nearest chasers Man City both in midweek and on the next round (which they will finish off on Monday 4 February with a match away to West Ham United) and it will be interesting to see how they deal with having to respond to whatever the Citizens produce.

Other key matches over the next week include Chelsea playing away to Bournemouth on Wednesday, in which we are likely to see the Premier League debut of Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain following his loan move from Juventus to the Blues, and relegation six-pointers which see Southampton take on Crystal Palace (Wednesday), the Saints away to Burnley and Palace at home to Fulham (both Saturday).
