For the longest of times, many were certain that slowly and surely we will lose grip on our heritage that the ancestors fought hard to attain. It is therefore when efforts are made to celebrate and educate the youth on the importance of culture should not go unappreciated.

These are the sentiments Namibian rapper and actor KK has for the recently ended Nama Cultural Festival where he performed. According to him, the event is of great prominence and he is grateful for the invitation to attend and to be part of history.
“It was surreal, educational and something different for me. There are so many people who don’t know where they come from and their roots. Events like this will make one understand who they are and where they come from,” he said.

The event took place in Keetmanshoop and was attended by leaders and entertainers alike. The key objective of the festival is to strive for unity, development and social cohesion within the Nama community as well as the broader Khoisan community. The festival was held under the theme ‘/Hao da ni’, which means ‘we will come together.
