Standard Bank 09 Music Festival Features Homegrown Line-Up

The highly anticipated 2023 edition of The Standard Bank 09 Music Festival is set to make history as it unveils an all-Namibian line-up for the very first time. Organized in collaboration with Mshasho Record label, the festival has become a prominent event on the Namibian calendar, attracting thousands of music lovers each year. This year’s festival will take place on the 29th and 30th of September 2023 at the UNAM stadium in Windhoek.

The official Sponsors and Media launch held in Windhoek’s Northern Industrial Area witnessed the founder of the festival, Kind Tee Dee, express his enthusiasm for this year’s event. Tee Dee stated, “We are happy to put the focus on local talent, something that we have always been dedicated to, but want to emphasize even more. Expect the best experience with our world-class line-up, as I and all other headlining and guest acts are planning something unforgettable.”

The Standard Bank 09 Music Festival has consistently delivered memorable experiences, and this year’s edition aims to be a remarkable celebration of Namibian talent. Carlos Gurirab, a member of the organizing committee, assured concert-goers that logistics and safety remain a top priority.

“We’re committed to providing a better experience than ever before. Attendees are encouraged to bring their cooler boxes and camping chairs. The festival is divided into two days, with the youth-centered leg taking place on Friday,” said Gurirab. Friday’s line-up will showcase the best emerging artists in Namibia, including DJ Dreas, Yeezir, DJ Spuzza, Don Bae, and Nino Pequeno. These young and talented performers, all under 26 with a significant youth following, promise to energize the crowd with electrifying performances.

On Saturday, festival-goers will witness a Versus-type showdown featuring some of Namibia’s most prominent seasoned artists. The line-up includes award-winning music giants such as Tate Buti, Gazza, King Tee Dee, Top Cheri, and Big Ben. An exciting interactive element has been added this year, allowing the audience to decide on the day who they believe is Namibia’s best performer.

With a focus on being a family-friendly affair, The Standard Bank 09 Music Festival encourages Namibians of all ages to attend in large numbers. Gurirab added, “On Saturday, families can come through with their children to enjoy an action-packed afternoon with sports like Tug-of-war and football on showcase.” Those interested in signing up for the social and corporate sports tournaments should keep an eye out for more information in the press leading up to the event.

The Standard Bank 09 Music Festival is made possible by its main sponsors, including Standard Bank Namibia, Tafel Lager, Kadhila Amoomo Legal Practitioners, TMU Holding, Gweri Vintage, and Pombili Shilongo. These sponsors play a vital role in supporting and promoting the Namibian music industry.

As the countdown to the festival begins, music enthusiasts and families alike are eagerly anticipating the two-day extravaganza that promises to celebrate and showcase the incredible talent Namibia has to offer. The Standard Bank 09 Music Festival 2023 is set to be an unforgettable experience that highlights the diversity and vibrancy of Namibian music.
