ThunderCats return in an all-new animated series

New action-comedy series debuts on 25 May!

Back in the ‘80s, kids across Africa were hooked on the American animated adventure series, ThunderCats, and what better way to beat the lockdown blues than catching Cartoon Network’s brand-new revival action-comedy series, ThunderCats Roar?

Set to premiere on Monday, 25 May, the new series, produced by WarnerBros Animation Studios for Cartoon Network, stays true to the premise of the popular, and beloved, original ‘80s series and sees Lion-O and the ThunderCats — Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, WilyKit and WilyKat — barely escape the sudden destruction of their homeworld, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth.

Lion-O, the newly appointed Lord of the ThunderCats, attempts to lead the team as they make this planet their new home. However, a bizarre host of creatures and villains stand in their way, including the mortal enemy from the ancient past, Mumm-Ra, Third Earth’s wicked ruler who will let nothing, including the ThunderCats, stop his tyrannical reign over the planet.

Bursting with over-the-top action, and a new, razor-sharp comedic edge, ThunderCats Roar boasts fresh and vibrant character designs along with a dynamic storytelling tone, similar to the action-comedy adventures of the titular superheroes, Teen Titans Go!. The new series promises to reignite the passionate fanbase of these iconic characters and introduce the legacy of the ThunderCats to a whole new generation. Victor Courtright (Pickle and Peanut) and Marly Halpern-Graser (Right Now Kapow) serve as producers, with Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) as executive producer.

Catch the exciting sneak peek of ThunderCats Roar on Saturday, 16 May @ 08:40 CAT when Cartoon Network Africa brings you 2 episodes of Teen Titans Go!, including Teen Titans Roar!, the special episode crossover with ThunderCats Roar, followed by episodes 3 and 4 of ThunderCats Roar. Tune in from Monday, 25 May at 15h05 CAT to catch all the ThunderCats Roar action only on Cartoon Network, DStv channel 301, and GOtv channel 67 (Ghana 158 and Uganda 356).
