Top 5 local songs you should listen to right now

Not sure if its just us here at Unwrap.online who have noticed that 2019 is kind of a very slow year for Namibia, not much music has been released so far, it could be a good thing because artists are working on delivering music for us for the rest of the year. Besides that, there have been a few songs that are popping locally that have peaked our interest. Here is our pick for some of the Top 5 local songs you should listen to.

  1. Vikta Juice Boy featuring ML-These Beats

Vikta Juice Boy is one artist you should have on your playlist, particularly because of his bigger than life song These beats featuring ML. The Afro pop song is worth listening to and is currently one song getting rotation across many radio stations and is doing very well on streaming sites. ML sounds like she is in her element on this song and she is very melodic and her catchy take on the songs chorus will have you remember the song everywhere you go.

The artist that shines on the song is Vikta Juice boy, who uses a very expressive melody and rich voice tone to get his message across about how he is blessed to be doing music and live his best life. You don’t have to to believe us just listen to the song below. The song cleverly uses a legendary verse from a popular Kwasa kwasa song dropped in 1997 by Jb Mpiana titled Ndombolo. This is the type of song you listen to when you want to express how proud you are of yourself. Vikta Juice Boy is doing very well for himself and is going to have a blossoming and fruitful career in 2019. If you’ve watched him perform before you’ll know that he is passionate about what he does and gives his best when he is on stage.

2. One blood-Kangaroo

One Blood are back with another hit song titled Kangaroo. This one is not as big as Warakata but the duo know how to make great songs. The song comes complete with the Kangaroo dance.

The public seem to love the song too and many people have all done the One Blood #kangaroochallenge recording videos of themselves dancing to the song. One Blood’s music has been enjoyed exclusively by a small population of Namibians but now they are mainstream and many more people are listening to them. The uptempo disco song will have you doing the Kangaroo dance as soon as you hear it.

This is what one fan had to say about Kangaroo, we love the sense of humour:

3. Mabuzza-Energy ft Dark Vapour

Undisputed Music artist, Mabuzza has an outstanding song titled Energy. The song is the perfect blend of Kwaito and Hip-hop and has a very refreshing sound. There’s a certain nostalgia you get when you listen to it, you cannot really explain the feeling.

Mabuzza exudes confidence on the song and the contrast between him and Dark Vapour makes the song wonderful. Dark Vapour laces the song up with a smooth chorus that will have you singing in excitement until you are out of breath.

4. KFC DJs ft Minga – Surround

If you are looking to hypnotise your soul then maybe listen to the KFC Djs and Minga. This song is very smooth and Minga really sounds lovely throughout the song. This song really slows you down and lets a rush of feel good hormones hit your body. You can listen to this tune when you are home on a lazy Sunday afternoon minding your business or while you are hitting the gym.

5. Raffy ft Loft, Skrypt & AYT8-Uh Huh

Is this a good hip hop song? Uh Huh! Do the rappers drop bars? Uh huh! Is it a banger? Uh huh! Raffy seemingly came out of nowhere and dropped a really trippy trap song. Through clever word play, playful flows and good diction the rappers on the song really made this a pleasure listening to. Loft’s autotune was not overbearing and his part on the song was amazing…he was in sync and really sounded comfortable on the beat. Skrypt is a beast and a lyrical genius, he bodied the beat. AYT8 also made a breeze of the beat and came through with a flow that compliments the song.

These are just a few songs that are popping right now, there is still plenty more coming. We are excited to see what kind of music drops during 2019.
