Namibia’s first slut shame walk brings people from all walks of life encourage safe and stigma free spaces for women.
“Dress code is not the problem, rape is,”

Today Windhoekers took to the streets a slut shame walk under the theme Embracing Womanhood through sisterhood. The slut shame walk-in Namibia is to advocate for safety and protection of Namibian women whilst encouraging them not to remain silent but to name and shame abusers.
Hundreds of men and women pulled up in numbers wearing colorful outfits including underwear, miniskirts and body paint with messages such as ‘ Issa look, not consent’.

During the demonstration, protesters were chanting ‘stop raping our women’.
The slut shame walk has been described as the most successful feminist protest action in 20 years. The central purpose of the slut shame walk is to remove shame from the term “slut” and reclaim women’s space and right to sexual self-assertion. Namibian personalities Odile Gartze, Fatima Shaningwa and Maria Nepembe are some of the many who rallied behind the cause.

Here is what NamTweeps had to say about the slut shame walk. The walk took place between 08H00 to 12H00 and started off at Ausspannplatz traffic circle.
