Night Under the Stars (NUTS) will on Friday 07th May 2021 welcome Waters on stage.
The concert begins at 19h00, entrance is 20 NAD and seats are limited due to social
distancing regulations.
The concert will also be livestreamed on the Goethe-Institut Namibia Facebook page for those who can’t make the event or who prefer to enjoy the show from home. The Goethe-Institut Namibia is located on 1-5 Fidel Castro Street.
“This will be the biggest turn up of my career thus far,” said Waters who describes himself
as a soulful musician. He has invested in exploring soul music because it’s smooth and
powerful at the same time.
“I mostly sing about love and different people’s views of it because it is relatable,” he said. Waters also combines his mother-tongue Otjiherero when writing his own songs, even though he is inspired by predominantly American and other international musicians. “Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Al Green and Motown is who inspires me because I can emulate their sound but I want to be better,” he said.
New on the scene as a solo musician, Waters has an established fan-base and has featured
in tracks with Lioness. He said the Namibian music industry is an interesting one. “It is hard to say but I think we in Namibia are sort of stuck at making the same sound but I have recently seen musicians make new waves compared to a few years ago so we are getting somewhere,” he said. Waters in 2017 took up learning the guitar and even though he has learnt a lot, “there is room for improvement”.
Do not miss this edition of NUTS ft Waters before the Windhoek evenings become too cold
and don’t hesitate bringing a friend or two. Refreshments will be available and seats are
limited to first-some-first-serve.
