On 5 October, Gobabis will be hosting their very first Miss Omaheke 2019. The event is held by Annely Shiikwa a 25-years-old registered nurse-midwife and model. Shiikwa believes the importance of Miss Gobabis is that it is a move towards youth empowerment.
“I want to help the health commission through entertainment. On 4 October, we are going to have a charity show at one of the schools to donate sanitary pads then we will talk with the schoolgirls on HIV, teen pregnancy, TB, hepatitis and Eclampsia,” she says.

Shiikwa also calls on to anyone who wants to help donate sanitary pads to start donating today. With enough donation, the campaign hopes to reach 5000 sanitary pads by the end of September and has started the hashtag #keepagirlchildinschool.
