Singer and performer, Y’Cliff has recently gone one up after hosting what now seems to be a popular Sunday event at El’barrios in Windhoek.
He told unwrap.online that the event is an acoustic concert series that is curated by him and which is aimed at boosting and championing the range and depth of Namibian music. The stage has already been graced by the likes of Jaliza, Adora, Nasim, Ally Tobias, Ari Ang and Alex Musician.
“The primary goal is to give local artists, both established and emerging a platform to showcase their talent while relying on the acoustic sounds which uncover their artistry on a deeper and more mature level,” he said.
Y’Cliff added that this event will allow the artists to give a raw and stripped-down performance with no special effects which offers a unique and beautiful experience to the concert-goers.
He also said that he is happy to see that local creatives are envisioning and coming up with new ideas of their own and creating spaces after everything was slowed down by the pandemic.
“We aren’t where we want to be yet, but w have made progress and I love to see it. As a creative, I tried to fight for a seat at the table for a while now but realized that I can use that same energy to build a table instead and that’s exactly what I did with “Sunday at 5”. So if there’s anyone out there who is feeling like they aren’t moving forward because of a lack of opportunities, this is the season to create your own opportunities,” he said.
