Youngsta CPT to perform at Cassidy Karon’s album release party

One of the biggest South African Hip Hop artists Youngsta CPT has been announced as a headliner at Cassidy Karon’s upcoming Street Light album release party which is scheduled  for 22 October at XS Lounge in Windhoek.

Youngsta is really one of the most important rap artists in Africa based on his content, his  realness and his messaging. It really ties into what my intention was for true art, true Hip Hop on the album. He was really the only other person I could think of to carry out that message,” he said.

The lineup includes a galore of local Hip Hop and RnB giants which include the likes of Mega, Kevin Maro, Emmanuel Rose, Skypt, Ian Lovely and Khadija as well host of DJ’s that include Sxdated, Dj What What, Devitchi, Low and DJ MA1000.

Karon added that the idea behind the Street Light album was him simply wanting to be himself with no pressure from what the mainstream music industry would expect.

“This is a passion project, I mean most of them are but with this one, I told myself that I’m a painter, I’m an artist and with this I just wanted to rap the way I wanted to rap without any limitations.  I told my management that I just wanted 10 people to really resonate with the album and I can tell you know that way more people did.  This project has really cemented me as a rapper,” he said.

Moreover the ‘Aweh’ hit maker said that hard work , resiliency and withstanding the pressure and time has attributed to him still being relevant today.

“I see so many people come and go. I think the difference has always just been my hunger. I’m hungry like I’m the rookie but I’ve always been that way I’ve always worked very hard. And music has found a way to love me back and to geek me without being the biggest superstar in the country. I’ve managed to stay afloat and always recreate and rebrand myself. I think one of the things music gave me was patience and perseverance and consistency,” he said.
